Oxford Diocesan Guild

The ODG young ringers welcomes ringers from across the Guild’s 15 branches. A friendly, sociable group we meet once a month on a Sunday afternoon. We visit towers across the guild so there is, for some, considerable travelling, although to minimise this you do tend to find us ringing in the central part of the Guild.

In addition to our monthly practice there are quarter peals, outings with the Midlands Young Ringers, an annual visit to a 12 bell tower, striking competitions and even tune ringing on handbells at Christmas.

Our focus is on striking methods well. To get the most out of the practices we suggest you are already able to plain hunt. You are also considered to be an old ringer when you no longer meet the entry criteria for the RWNYC, so essentially our ringers are 18 or under.

We are proud to have been able to enter the method ringing category of the RWNYC every year since it started, winning the inaugural method category in 2011 and again in, 2018, 2019 and 2021.

And last but certainly not least we have a mascot called Colin, eat copious quantities of cake and at every opportunity when not in the tower there seems to be game being played often, but not exclusively, including a ball
